Interdisciplinary Project Work

Interdisciplinary projects that integrate multiple subjects and skills through project-based learning (PBL) are a powerful way to engage students in real-world problem-solving.
For example, students could design and build a model of a sustainable city, integrating math, science, engineering, geography, and social studies. Another example could be creating a multimedia campaign to raise awareness and funds for a global issue, involving language arts, media literacy, art, and civics. These projects not only enhance students' understanding of various subjects but also develop critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
Sample of Interdisciplinary Project Work:
Objectives of Project Work:
– To go into the field and know about plants, their names, their uses.............(Field Visit)
– To prepare tables by using raw data. (By Survey, Mathematics, Statistics)
– To draw bar graph of collected data by doing survey in field visit.(Mathematics)
– To learn the use of plants, their types on the basis of different aspects (by age, root system, habitation,.........) their good and bad impact on the environment. [Science, Health and Environment]
– To know about the effects of afforestation and deforestation on the world environment. [Geography(Social Studies)]
– To write composition on various topics.(like forest, environment, species of plants ...........etc [English Nepali]
– To know use of gadgets, camera, internet .....etc
Project Work:
Make a group field visit in your school area. Collect the name and number of at least 10 different plants found in a school area. Also take their photos and short videos.
1. Present the raw data in Table. (Tabulation of data , Mathematics)
2. Prepare the bar graph of the above tabulated data. (Mathematics)
3. Write information from the bar graph about which plant is maximum and minimum in number ? (Mathematics)
4. Interpret or write a paragraph about the constructed bar graph. (English)
5. Take photos of those different plants and also short videos. By using Google lens app collect information about plants name and other properties and information with use of the internet. Then after preparing a documentary by using those photos and videos by giving some suitable name to the documentary. [Science and Technology, ICT, Social Studies, Geography, Environment]
6. Prepare the kingdom division chart of those different types of plants and also, mention their important features with medicinal importance. [Science]
7. Prepare a chart including the good aspects of plantation on climate, environment and health and bad aspects of deforestation on climate, environment and health. [Health and Environment]
Criteria required for project work:
Materials: camera, gadget with internet access, colour chart paper, pen, scales, pencil, color marker, A4 size paper................ etc
Timeline: 11 days
Goal: to know real life knowledge.
Budget: by group member of project.
